How to play

Rules

Texas Hold'em is the most popular version of poker in the world and is played using a standard 52 card deck with 2 to 10 players.

Every player gets two hole cards face-down. Then through four betting rounds a total of five community cards are dealt face-up on the table. Players must make the best five card hand with a combination of their hole cards and community cards. The player with the strongest hand wins.

Actions

After a player bets, everyone has a right to act by the order. The following few types of actions are available:

Fold

A player quits the game for feeling no chance to win, and then delivers the 2 hole cards to dealer. Then others can't see his hole card without the agreement from this player.

Check

If there is no new bet, a player can check, withnot betting nor folding. In such case, he doesn't need to deliver the 2 hole cards. He can continue to play.

Bet

A player can bet based on the pool and his hole cards so as to charge value or bluff the villain.

Call

A player can call others' bet for continual play. If a player's chips are not enough to call others' bet, then he can only obtain the same chips as his once winning the pot.

Raise

A player can bet more if others have bet. The raise amount is usually about twice of the bet or more. Then all players who haven't folded will have another chance to act.

Betting Round

There are four betting rounds in Texas Hold'em.

Pre-Flop

The betting round that takes place after the players receive their hole cards.

The Flop

The betting round that takes place after the first three community cards are dealt.

The Turn

The third betting round that takes place after the fourth community card is dealt.

The River

The last betting round that takes place after the fifth and final community card is dealt.

The Showdown

The showdown begins when there are two or more players who are still in play when action ends on the river. The player with the strongest hand will take the pot. When the showdown ends in a tie, the pot is split evenly among the winning players.
